The commanding officer shall continue in that position as long as there is no desire by 
another person within the crew to take that position, and the captain preforms their required 
duties as specified within the by?laws of STARFLEET and the USS Niagara. 
Elections for the position of commanding officer may be conducted every three (3) years, 
beginning with nominations on the 15th of January and elections to be held no later than the 
1st of March with the results announced at the yearly commissioning anniversary.
