Section 6: Meeting Notifications
The date, time and location of the general membership meeting shall be established by
the commanding officer (or his designee) 30 days prior to the meeting (if possible, at the prior
meeting) and shall be published in the Ship’s newsletter, on the website and on the Ship’s
Facebook Group. Additional notification shall be made via email to all members in good
standing not later than the 5th of the month in which the meeting is being held.
Section 7: Meeting Order and Structure
The general membership meeting shall proceed in the following order:
? The commanding officer (or his designee) calls the meeting to order
? The recording secretary (or their designee) reads the minutes from the prior meeting
? The commanding officer (or their designee) shall call for a motion accepting or rejecting
the prior meeting’s minutes as read
? Outstanding old business shall be addressed
? New business shall be addressed
? The commanding officer (or their designee) shall call for a motion to end the meeting
Section 8: Motions
A motion shall be defined as a matter brought before the Ship’s membership that
requires the approval of the membership. Motions may be brought before the membership in
two (2) manners:
? From a member at the current general membership meeting
? From a member three (3) days in advance of the meeting by use of electronic
communications, if the member is unable to attend the active meeting
Section 9: Voting
Motions brought before the membership, either in person or via electronic means, shall
be voted on by all active members present at the general membership meeting. Each member
