What characteristics does the Date Whisperer display that cause your customers to select you
over other dating sites like Zoosk, Match.com, e-Harmony and Local dating site D.C. Singles
just to name a few?
I’m very real and I say all the things that my clients are thinking. I challenge my clients to leave
their comfort zones and look at the larger picture. We don’t just match make, we focus on the
complete mental health aspects in relationships to help you perform at your best within a relationship. We don’t want you to just hook up, we strive to get you the ring and keep the man,
while fostering a healthy, viable and loving relationship.
What are some of the biggest challenges/issues for running this business?
That it’s never been done on this level incorporating mental health and dating while finding
people to really believe in your gift and what you are doing. When I first started out I approached every person I knew for help. I got many responses from: LOL’s to girl you are crazy to
whatever Teia. My biggest issue and still is to date, is getting people to understand that I’m not
a physic or shrink. I say that because people tend to confuse my whispers with something else
i.e., fortune telling and psychic readings.
As a business owner, you tend to put in more hours than you normally would work in corporate America, this is understandable as you are nurturing your baby and developing your
dream. Describe a typical workday as The Date Whisperer?
I run three companies so my days are very long. A hard day is meetings from 9a-2p, clients 2p-5
ish depending on the day. Events 6:30p until getting home which is usually after 11:00pm and
then writing for “Date Whispererth” the blog and then kissing my kids and starting all over
again at 4:30 am when I go to the gym.
We know being the Date Whisperer has proven to be rewarding. Are there any negatives to
your job?
Yes, being pre-maturely judged. People think I just read (Whisper) all day. Once they learn
about me they act a little weird until they learn I put my pants on the same way as them and
have the same challenges as any other. Also, being really honest; the truth hurts and sometimes it’s hard to deliver.
