UNSW Law & Justice Internships Supervision Manual
Nature of the Work for Interns
Students should be involved in substantive legal practice, policy, advocacy education and / or community development work. Whilst students can be expected to contribute to the administrative work of the organisation, just as other staff are, this is not an administrative placement. It is also not purely observational work experience and students should be given responsibility for tasks as far as is appropriate.
Students who are undertaking research based work should also be given the opportunity to experience a diverse range of internship experiences such as attending staff meetings, seminar presentations, planning sessions etc. Host organisation supervisors and academic supervisors should contact the Director of Work Integrated Learning if there are any queries about the nature of the work.
