Challenge
Infrastructure planning, delivery and operation often faces fragmented data, late delivery and overrun budgets. This lab ' s spatial digital twins solve that by creating nearreal-time, interactive models of built environments – helping stakeholders coordinate infrastructure, improve safety and plan smarter, more sustainable cities through collaborative, datadriven tools.
Solution
The group’ s approach to creating spatial digital twins includes the use of core technology that converts 3D laser scans into models with minimal manual input. This system offers automatic filtering, standard format outputs and quality assurance, making it ideal for the architecture, engineering and construction industry.
By integrating into existing workflows and forming long-term partnerships with industry and government, the lab ensures the scalable and sustainable implementation of research, turning it into practical tools for smarter infrastructure planning, delivery and operation.
