International Business and
International Relations
BA (Hons)
Why study this course?
Understanding international politics is key to understanding business in a
global context. Bringing these areas together on this course will give you
insights into both these important subjects and you will learn theoretical and
practical skills to help you understand and influence the world around you.
International business explores organisational behaviour, managing
international organisations and doing business in emerging markets.
Through a varied selection of cases and assessments, you will learn
about the difficulties and benefits of managing across cultures and
languages. International relations will provide the key concepts and
specialist topics that are necessary for understanding the context of
such operations and how politics, power and organisations operate
in the international system. You will also explore how those not only
inform but also direct economic and political action by individuals,
states, businesses and organisations. This course will provide insights
into the historical, socio-political, economic, gender and geographical
structures and interactions in the international system, and will help you
understand how these impact upon the practice of business on different
levels. International study, language modules and placement years are
available.
What will this mean for my future?
This course will provide you with a wide range of skills in research,
analysis, critical thinking, oral and written communication, and
presentation, that are relevant to a diverse range of future careers in the
global workplace.
You might choose to work in business, or work as an economic or
political analyst, journalist, or in the civil service. You may seek a career
working for an international organisation or aid agency, you may work for
an international bank, or you might work for a multinational corporation.
