Human Resource Management
and Psychology
BSc (Hons)
Why study this course?
In exploring the subjects of psychology and human resources together, you will
develop awareness of collective and individual aspects of human behaviour both
in the workplace and in society. This is an ideal combination for those looking
to develop a career in human resource management, given the importance of
psychology in the management, motivation and reward of employees.
In human resource management you will learn about formal and informal
ways of regulating the employment relationship in the public, private and
voluntary sectors. You’ll explore how organisations function as part of
their wider economic and political context, how they are managed and
how they plan their future needs. Complimenting this with modules in
psychology, you will find out what the latest research tells us about human
behaviour and decision-making. In our well-equipped laboratories, you
will learn how to design and conduct your own psychological studies using
a range of quantitative and qualitative techniques. The emphasis is on
understanding how psychology impacts on everyday life; from developing
a sense of self and negotiating personal relationships to influencing
judgements about matters of global significance. You can add a placement
year as part of your degree, learn a new language or study abroad.
What will this mean for my future?
