The Pro Tour resumed in Barnsley over the weekend of 14th and 15th September and Dave Chisnall continued the superb form that had seen him claim a maiden European Tour victory in Germany the previous weekend as he sealed victory in first of the weekends two events.
The St Helens based thrower began his run to the final with a 6-3 victory over Mick Todd, before he produced two deciding leg victories over Gino Vos and Justin Pipe in the second and third rounds respectively. In the last 16 the superlative Chisnall overcame Wayne Jones 6-3, and when he booked his place in the semi-finals with another 6-3 victory, this time over Mervyn King, things were looking good for ‘Chizzy’.
The semi-final proved to be more one-sided than many may have expected as Chisnall produced a stunning display to end the challenge of Whitlock with a 6-1 victory, setting up a final clash with Peter Wright.
