orld Trophy There was some success for the qualifiers though as Dee Bateman eliminated nine-times World Champion Trina Gulliver 4-3 in a match that whilst it was close, it was not of a high standard. Trina was joined in making an early exit by partner Sue who had come through the qualifiers only to fall victim to an in form Irina Armstrong. World Champion Lisa Ashton further compounded the TV woes of Wales’ captain Julie Gore, the Lancashire Rose inflicting a crushing 4-0 victory, whilst Sharon Prins edged through a close match with Rachel Brooks 4-3. Rising star Fallon Sherrock was tested by wildcard Paula Jacklin, but when all was said and done the youngster was able to hold on for a 4-2 victory, whilst the closest match of all was contested by pairs partners Anasatasia Dobromyslova and Lorraine Winstanley, with Anastasia claiming a 4-3 victory. Quarter Finals World Number 1 Deta Hedman could only watch on as the Russian Irina Armstrong played probably her best ever televised darts to take victory in their match by 5 legs to 3, whilst Sharon Prins fought hard during her game against Anastasia Dobromyslova. Having initially found herself 3-0 down, she won 3 consecutive legs to get back into the match but the former Lakeside Champion was too strong in the end and took the match by 5 legs to 4. 19-year-old Fallon Sherrock was in action against Aileen de Graaf, and the match went all the way to a deciding leg after Aileen, who was trailing 4-3 levelled at 4-4 courtesy of a 12 dart-finish to win the 8th leg. In the ninth Sherrock held her nerve to land double 8 and seal her place in the semis. The final ladies match of the evening saw the current World Champion Lisa Ashton inflict a heavy 5-1 defeat to qualifier Dee Bateman to set up a meeting with Fallon Sherrock in the semi-finals. The World Number 1 ran out a 4-0 winner as Gallagher, who had been impressive in qualifying, struggled somewhat in her senior televised debut. Photo: Mike Glover/UK Darts Magazine First Round
