Karel Sedlacek was unable to reproduce the clinical finishing that had put pay to Robbie Green in the opening round and as such he fell victim to an in form Paul Jennings who secured a 7-2 victory. Jennings moved on to face Scott Mitchell in the quarter finals on Sunday after the Dorset-based thrower continued his recent good form on TV by claiming the prized scalp of Darryl Fitton, the final scoreline of 7-2 being in truth a fair result. Dave Prins is another player to show improved televised form of late and today was no exception, although in the end it was not enough for the man known as The Badger and after missing three match darts he fell victim to Dutchman Jeffrey de Graaf in a deciding leg. De Graaf also landed a 170 checkout during the match, a step further than he had managed during his first round encounter when he was unlucky to wire the bull for the same checkout.
