The ECB Story
The ECB’s All Stars Tutor Workforce
Lead Dan Garbutt said the training
was pivotal in supporting them to
deliver on their long-term objective to
create a diverse coaching workforce.
“
UK Coaching asked us
about our programme
and about what we
would need, and created
something that would
be suitable for it. To be
able to put into practice
training that is bespoke
for our programme and
works for our tutors
was just what we were
looking for.”
ECB All Stars Tutor Workforce
Lead, Dan Garbutt
The ECB wanted the tutor workforce
of their All Stars Cricket programme
to have the greatest possible impact
with every person they work with.
With this in mind, we helped them
deliver bespoke training to their
tutors based on our person-centred
philosophy. We worked together to
develop their tutors with enhanced
ability, confidence and motivation
to deliver memorable learning
experiences.
The Inclusive
Activity Programme
During Coaching Week, the Activity
Alliance launched its Inclusive
Activity Programme (IAP). The
programme, supported by National
Lottery funding from Sport England
and delivered in partnership with
UK Coaching, engages key groups
in specialised training with the aim
of increasing the number of active
disabled people across England.
IAP equips coaches with the skills to
engage disabled people and people
with long-term health conditions
more effectively in activities through
a person-centred approach.
The proportion of participants
who completed the training and
rated their confidence, skills and
knowledge as ‘good’ or ‘excellent’
immediately after the workshop was
39%. And this increase was sustained
three to six months, post-workshop.
Additionally, 96% of participants
said they felt confident delivering an
activity that everyone could take part
in, and 59% of individuals reported
the disabled people they supported
were either ‘more active’ or ‘far more
active’ than before.
“The Inclusive Activity Programme
is a great way of encouraging sports
volunteers and coaches to think
outside the box. They can use their
initiative when it comes to the
delivery of sporting opportunities
for disabled participants. I would
certainly recommend this programme
to other universities.”
