UAB PHARMACY SERVICES Understanding Home Infusion
PRESCRIPTION DELIVERY We offer free delivery of your medications to your home via courier or commercial carrier. We are not able to deliver to P. O. Box addresses. We will also include ALL necessary infusion supplies for your therapy. Deliveries will be scheduled in advance. Our team will coordinate delivery of your home infusion medication( s) to your home or an approved alternate location when necessary.
If your medication( s) require special handling or refrigeration, they will be packaged and delivered accordingly. The UAB Home Infusion Therapy team will make every effort to deliver your medication and supplies early if a weather warning is in place. A pharmacy representative will attempt to call patients, in order of disaster priority, with any special instructions. Please make sure we have your secondary contact information on file to ensure we can reach you in case of an emergency or a delivery delay so there is no lapse in therapy. In addition, please let our staff know if your contact information changes.
PROOF OF DELIVERY The packing slip included in your delivery package provides you with an itemized list and quantity of medication and / or supplies you have received. The packing slip also serves as proof of delivery and is included as part of your medical record in the event your insurance provider requests this information. Insurance providers can audit medical records at any time for proof of delivery and can deny reimbursement if proof of delivery is not available.
The packing slip must be signed, dated, and returned with the delivery person, if delivered by medical courier service or driver. If the delivery was left at your door by a commercial carrier, such as UPS or FedEx, the packing slip must be signed, dated, and returned in the envelope provided as soon as possible.
If packing slips are not signed and returned promptly, we will not be able to leave future deliveries at your door without a signature guarantee. Someone will need to be available at the time of delivery to accept the delivery and sign the packing slip.
INTERPRETER SERVICES If you are deaf, hearing-impaired, or if English is not your primary language, an interpreter will be made available to you. There are also special services available if you are visually impaired.
