Alex Uddin ( K , 03-07 ) writes : Having read with interest of the news of the upcoming Everest anniversary and Winchester ’ s links to members of one of the early expeditions , I wanted to update you of the news that I reached the summit of Everest on 15 th May 2022 at 7am following the Western Cwm and South East Ridge route from Nepal . This summit also marked my completion of the Seven Summits Challenge - climbing the highest mountain on each of the seven continents .

Everest 15th May 2022
OW Chapel Choir Soc Yang Wern Ooi ( Coll 81-85 , Co Ro , 01-03 and Chapel Choir bass 83-85 ) has formed OW Chapel Choir Soc . The plan is to hold two Evensongs each year , one in London and one in Winchester . Yang Wern writes : ‘ I would very much like to invite you to join the
newly formed OW Chapel Choir Soc . For me , Chapel Choir and the two incredible conductors I sang for , namely Julian Smith and Christopher Tolley , opened a new avenue in my life that I am still following to this day . I am sure that Chapel Choir for many of you has also influenced your lives after Win Coll from serious amateur singing to the heights of the vocal profession . I hope very much that many of you will welcome the opportunity to celebrate this common heritage that was so important to us , by coming together to sing on a regular basis .’
Luke Mitchell ( B , 15-20 ) has been awarded the Schola Cantorum Conducting Scolarship for 2022-23 . In 2011 , Schola Cantorum , Oxford University ’ s premier chamber choir , introduced a Conducting Scholarship , to be awarded annually to an exceptional young musician who shows great promise in the art of choral conducting . Luke is Organ Scholar at The Queen ’ s College . Studying music .
