Anthony George Richard Gater ( E , 46-52 ); died 7.2021 . Son of GHG ( Fellow , 36-62 ; Warden 51-59 ). VI 1951 ( capt ), Soccer XI 1952 . 2Lt KRRC 1952-4 . New College Oxford , 2 PPE 1957 . Development economist , P & O 1957 ; political and economic planning 1962 . He worked with Fritz Schumacher at the Intermediate Technology Development Group 1966-7 ; UN Industrial Development Organisation 1968 ; and National Economic Development Office 1969- 86 , heading the group working for the textiles and garment industries : he enthusiastically promoted Better Made in Britain , a 1980s campaign to match buyers to British suppliers . Part author of Thrusters and Sleepers . In retirement , he was closely involved with creating and establishing the charity Fine Cell Work , teaching prisoners needlework to boost their self-worth and to encourage them to lead independent , crime-free lives . An art lover all his life he took to acquiring pictures that defied identification . He married Alison Moore in 1985 , who survives him , together with a daughter and a son . John Bernard Barton ( H , 47-51 ); died 13.5.2021 . Brother of MDB , father of BDGB . RA 1952-4 . He was articled with Mellors Basden & Mellors , Nottingham 1954-9 ; ACA 1959 , FCA ; London office of Peat Marwick Mitchell & Co ( later KPMG ) 1959 , partner 1970 ; retired 1992 . He was an avid bridge player and a member of the Tunbridge Wells Bridge Club . He enjoyed opera and theatre , always attending Glyndebourne and supporting his local theatre , The Tonbridge Oast Theatre . He served on the board of the Kent Air Ambulance and was a keen supporter of Tonbridge Parish Church and the Mission Aviation Fellowship , which provides aviation , communications , and learning technology services to more than 1,000 Christian and humanitarian agencies worldwide . He married Sarah Block in 1965 , who predeceased him , and he is survived by 2 daughters and a son .
Ian William Grant Brook ( F , 47- 52 ); died 20.4.2021 . Stepson of GR Hamilton ( Co Ro , 33-69 ). Co Prae , Head of House , French and German Speech , Fencing Team 1950-52 , Kirby Foils , Public School Fencing Champion ( foil ) 1952 . Scholar Magdalene College Cambridge 1954 , 2 Hist pts 1 and 2 , BA1957 , Fencing half blue 1956-7 , being considered for the British Olympic Team . His National Service included an attachment to the French Army Chasseurs Alpin . He worked for ICI Ltd from1957-72 , marketing textile products in Scandanavia and , aged 29 , ICI ’ s youngest ever director . He then worked for Textured Jersey Ltd 1972-4 ; British Match and Swedish Match Corporations 1974-90 : his final job was to encourage the growth of matchwood and to bring it to the market . In retirement , he became a professional artist , a hobby he had pursued since childhood , travelling widely to produce work with selected themes . He married Griselda Darwin in 1963 . He is survived by 2 daughters and a son .
Jeremy Chilton Dreyer ( D , 48-53 ); died 11.7.2021 . Father of MJD . RNC Dartmouth 1953 , joined RN , Lt 1957 ; qualified in communications 1963 ; Lt-Cdr1965 ; hockey for various ships and squadrons ; Cdr 1970 ; commanded HMS Falmouth 1970- 72 ; Capt 1976 ; commanded HMS Exeter and 5th Destroyer Squadron 1980-82 ; Deputy Chief of Allied Staff to C-in-C Eastern Atlantic in rank of Commodore 1982-5 ; retired 1985 . He was a kind person who loved life and he brought this joy to all around him . He loved being with family and friends , traveling , fishing , playing golf , tennis , shooting and skiing . He married Toni Cornwall-Stevens in 1960 , who survives him together with 2 sons and a daughter , another daughter predeceased him .

Ox & Bucks LI 1953-5 , captained soccer and cricket XIs . Magdalen College Oxford 1955-8 , where he was a contemporary of Dudley Moore and often sang to accompany him at bars and nightclubs : they even made a recording called ‘ Jinx sings while Dudley swings ’. PPE , BA , MA . Merchant banker , Samuel Montagu & Co 1958-65 ; Wallace Brothers 1966-76 ; director Allied Medical Group 1977-81 . National Commercial Bank , European Representative , 1982-2003 . His lasting passion was wine , of which he was somewhat of a connoisseur : he was a founding and long-standing member of a dining society called The Benedicts . He married Lucy Fletcher in 1964 who survives him with a son and a daughter , another son predeceased him .
