He owned a horse , trained by John Hills , which won the Moet & Chandon Silver Magnum at Epsom . He will be forever remembered at the New Zealand Golf Club , near Woking , where he was a constant and endearing member . He married Susan Hodgson in 1972 , who survives him .

He worked as a publisher and bookseller in Zurich 1961-3 ; as an editor William Collins , Glasgow 1963-72 . He then emigrated to Australia 1967 to form a mail-order publishing company before returning , after which he worked as a librarian 1974-2004 . In his spare time , he loved reading , birdwatching and spending time at air shows with his sons . He married ( 1 ) Elizabeth Pirret in 1967 and ( 2 ) Hilary Russell , who survives him together with 2 sons and a daughter .

He joined the British Geological Survey ( BGS ), working for the first half of his career for the Overseas Division in countries across Eastern and Southern Africa and South America 1963-88 : his overseas work allowed many memorable family safaris and expeditions to the Kalahari Desert , Okavango Delta , Zambezi valley , and the Andes . He moved with his family to Leicestershire in the mid 1980s , working in the BGS Home Division near Nottingham for the remainder of his career . He retired in 2000 , after which he moved to Devon . Author of over 20 scientific publications . He married Liane Griffith in 1963 , who survives him with 3 sons , 1 son predeceased .
Peter Colin Cavendish Hunter ( I , 53-58 ); died 3.9.2022 . ACA 1964 ; FCA 1969 at PWC . He then worked in the construction industry for many years before ending up at the Medical Protection Society , where he was the Chief Financial officer retiring in 1999 . He was an active member of the Sea View Yacht Club for 68 years . Sailing with Olympic Gold Medallist Stuart Morris he won the prestigious Prince of Wales Cup for International 14s and took part in Olympic trials in the Finn and Dragon . He brought worldclass race officer skills to the SVYC ; he also served as Vice Commodore and Trustee of the Royal Thames Yacht Club , as Terrestrial Commodore of the tongue in cheek Imperial Poona Yacht Club and was an active member of the Royal Yacht Squadron . For him , sailing always had to be fun and , as in all areas of his life , he was not impressed by people who took themselves too seriously . He married Jennifer Woodcock in 1969 , who predeceased , and he is survived by their 2 sons .
