Peter Manby Gibbens ( K , 50-54 ); died 9.9.2022 . Brother of JJG . VI . 2Lt Queen ’ s Regt 1955 . Agricultural college , followed by unsuccessful sheep farming in Australia . He then trained as a teacher at Hereford Technical College and London University before taking up his first post in Bromyard School and then , in 1973 , his major work as Head of Physics and Computer Services manager at Exhall Grange in Coventry – a boarding school for partially sighted and disabled children . He then moved to Windsor House . After taking early retirement , he moved to the Borders , where he worked with children from Duns , Earlston and Eyemouth who had been excluded from school ; he and his wife fostered 25 children over the years . He became an elder of the local church and , having found out all about what it involved , was ordained . He married ( 1 ) Sybil Pitt-Payne in 1962 , marriage dissolved , and ( 2 ) Gill , who survives him together with 2 daughters from the first marriage .

He loved walking in the English landscape and became involved in campaigns to protect Constable Country : he was for more than 50 years on the committee of the Dedham Vale Society and had trusteeships of the Munnings Art Museum and of the Constable Trust . He married Lucy Erith in 1961 , who survives him together with a daughter and a son .

He was Chairman of the governors of the Oratory School and prevented its excellent 6 th Form from closing . Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society 2004 and he explored astronomy and futuristic worlds in an unpublished novel . He wrote the Catholic Truth Society Pamphlet , Explanation of the History of the Roman Man , 2000 . He succeeded his father as 6th baronet in 1998 . He taught himself Hebrew and , as an expert on the Old Testament , he led a popular weekly scripture group . Obituaries in The Times and Telegraph .
