In September 2021 Winchester won the Cattermull Cup for the first time . Played over a long weekend at Middlesex University Real Tennis Court schools put forward doubles pairs of old boys or girls . Eighteen pairs played out handicapped matches in a league format followed by three knock-out rounds . ( Handicaps in real tennis are set nationally , with every match result adjusting an individual ’ s handicap and the starting scoreline in every game ).
Winchester ’ s pair left the school over forty years apart but supported each other well as they defeated Leys and Highgate in the group stage , suffering a loss to Clifton in
their first match . Jonathan Potter ( A , 70-75 ) and Felix Delaforce ( E , 13-18 ) progressed through the knockout stages , deploying crafty serving and determined defence , with wins over Worth and then Marlborough . Facing Clifton again in the final - and giving away a handicap of receive half 30 , owe 15 - Jonathan was steady and Felix powerful as Winchester triumphed 8-5 .

Visitors should arrive at the Porters ’ Lodge and not enter by any other gate . They will be asked to produce identification and sign the OW or Don Soc visitors ’ books ; they will be issued with a visitor ’ s badge and lanyard , to be worn conspicuously during their visit , and returned as they leave through the same gate . They will also be given a map showing the areas of the school that may be visited .
