From the Director
Major Annual Events It has been a pleasure over the last few months to greet members of Win Coll Soc once again , whether in Winchester , London or elsewhere around the country . Aside from the more focused occasions ( see Dates for Your Diary below ), Win Coll Soc members of all hues will be very welcome in Winchester on the following occasions :
• OTH v Commoners XVs and VIs ( refreshments will be available at VIs 2023 );
• Wykeham Day ( of which , more below );
• Goddard Day ( open to members of the Goddard Legacy Society . More details below ).
Wykeham Week 12 th -18 th June will see the return of Wykeham Week . This year we will be celebrating sport at Win Coll and during Wykeham Week we will host a 36-hour fundraising challenge to raise £ 250,000 towards the New Sports Centre Equipment fund . Information about how to get involved will be circulated over the coming weeks .
Win Coll Soc Website This is undergoing an upgrade and the new version will go live in Short Half before the next issue of The Trusty Servant ! It will offer a better process for registering for events , improved information about OW Clubs and Societies , a careers networking platform to support Wykehamists past and present and much else besides . We will provide further updates as we approach the launch .
War Cloister Connections 2024 will mark the centenary of the dedication of War Cloister in 1924 . Many links exist between those remembered in War Cloister and the living , not all of which are held in the College ’ s corporate memory . If you think your own family ’ s connection with War Cloister might get overlooked , please contact Christopher Normand , the Director ajcn @ wincoll . ac . uk
Goddard Day All members of the Goddard Legacy Society , together with a guest , are welcome to attend this well-supported and enjoyable occasion in Chapel and New Hall for a reception and lunch . Membership of the Society is open to anyone who has left a legacy to Winchester College . This is surprisingly easy to arrange using a codicil to an existing Will . Wykeham Day 2022 The College ’ s annual open day will relaunch post pandemic on Saturday 18 June under the revived title Wykeham Day . The name celebrates our founder , while also acknowledging the wide range of events and activities taking place that day , in addition to the cricket . We look forward to welcoming OWs , parents and all those who make up the Winchester College community . Food will be on offer to suit a range of tastes at the food hall on Lavender Meads . The programme for the day will be circulated online by the beginning of June .
