He taught at Westbury House 1948 . He worked for Christie , Manson & Woods 1949-80 , starting on the front counter ; he established a separate porcelain department in 1956 and concentrated on Chinese ceramics after 1965 ; director 1963- 80 ; president , Christie ’ s , Geneva , 1967-80 , also working in New York and Paris . Hon Adviser on ceramics to National Trust 1981- 2011 ; Chairman , Dorset County Museum 1990s ; Chairman , French Porcelain Society . FSA . Author of Chinese Porcelain 1963 , Christie ’ s Pictorial History of Chinese Ceramics 1984 and published articles in many journals . Selected for 1948 Olympic skiing team , but turned it down . He served on the London Diocesan Advisory Committee for the Care of Churches and was a director of the French Huguenot Hospital ( La Providence ) in Rochester , Kent . A very generous OW and donor to the Win Coll Treasury . He married Judith Makgill Crichton Maitland in 1965 , who predeceased him . See Telegraph obituary above .

Gerald ( Gee ) Harold Eaton Hart ( H , 44-48 ); died 22.2.2022 . Brother of JGEH and father of RGEH and AMEH . 2 Lt RA 1949 , RA ( TA ) 1950 . Caius College Cambridge 1950 , 2 Mod Languages and Geography , BA 1953 ; Caius Boat Club , Henley 1951- 53 ( Capt 1953 ). Aluminium Co of Canada Scholarship to International Management Institute , Geneva , 1953 ; Alcan UK , Switzerland and USA 1954 ; Alcoa New York 1960 ; Alcoa International Lausanne 1962 ; managing director , Alcoa France , Paris , 1967 ; regional manager , Alcoa International Lausanne , 1977 ; vicepresident , Swiss Aluminium Ltd , Zürich , 1981 . He had a keen intellect and business acumen , but was also a notable raconteur and a man of charm and good humour right to the end . He married Penelope Wood in 1960 , who died in 2012 . He is survived by 2 sons and a daughter .
Derek Robin Peppiatt ( E , 44-48 ); died 18.11.2021 . Brother of BKP and father of GKP , JRP and NDP . Lords 1947-8 . 2 Lt Ox and Bucks LI 1949-50 ; MELF . Mullens & Co , stockbrokers 1950 , partner 1957-86 ; merged with SG Warburg Group 1986 , director 1986-9 ; director Rank Foundation 1989-2001 . Alongside horse racing and shooting , cricket was a great passion . He played 34 times for Buckinghamshire and sat on their committee for 55 years , President from 1996-2001 . He played for a number of clubs including the MCC ( Finance sub-committee for 19 years and the Main Committee for a further 3 years ), the Green Jackets , Old Wykehamists and his home club Beaconsfield CC . He was a very proud Old Wykehamist , supporting the College throughout his life , and a warm , generous and kind man . He married Joanna Sykes in 1966 , who survives him , together with their 3 sons .
Francis Farquhar Higgins ( I , 44-49 ); died 4.3.2022 . 2 Lt 15 / 19 KR Hussars 1950 BAOR ; Lt Inns of Court Regt ( TA ) 1952-5 . Binder , Hamlyn & Co ; ACA 1956 , FCA . He then moved into industry as finance director International Thomson and ultimately managing director Thomson Holidays . Following his retirement , he bred and showed Jacob sheep with considerable success . He married Robina Fish in 1957 , who predeceased him , and is survived by their 3 daughters .
Philip David Miles ( G , 44-49 ); died 18.2.2022 . Brother of CRM . Bisley . RAC 1949 , 2 Lt Fife and Forfar Yeomanry 1950 . New College Oxford 1951 , 3 History ; chartered surveyor ; Maj , TA ( Shropshire Yeomanry ); MBE , TD . He married ( 1 ) Julia Chetwynd in 1960 and ( 2 ) Christine Bolton in 1985 and is survived by his daughter and son from the first marriage .
