He painted remarkably well and had a passion for steam railways and sailing : he completed the Fastnet race many times . He was enormous fun with an extensive fund of jokes and stories and he loved a party . To the end of his life , he always wore his Furleyite strat band , comfortable in the knowledge that only the very well educated would have a clue what it was . He married Diana Beckingham 1954 , who survives him together with their 2 sons and a daughter ; 1 son predeceased .
David Hill ( I , 40-45 ); died 25.12.2020 . Brother of GAH ; Sen Co Prae , VI 1943-4 . RNVR short course , Christ Church , Oxford 1945 . Sub- Lt RNVR 1946-8 , HMS Helmsdale ( ASDIC experimental ). Christ Church 1948 , 4 PPE , BA 1951 . He joined Imperial Tobacco as a trainee in 1951 ; Gillette Export Marketing 1952 ; PA Consulting Group , Sales & Marketing 1957 ; Unilever , Sales & Marketing consultant 1972 ; President of Verosol USA Inc 1975 . His school holidays had been invariably spent on the family farm in the Fens and this in turn led him to have a lasting devotion to gardening . He divided the latter part of his life between Chiswick and France , with a love of travel , music , opera , ballet and the theatre . He married Susan Murray , who predeceased him , and he is survived by his partner Judith Ramm and his 3 sons .

Retired 1993 . Throughout his time as a land agent , he had a deep interest in everything that went on in the countryside : the landscape , farming , forestry , wildlife , country sports and all the people who lived there . He was probably the last land agent to deliver wages by hand to estate workers . He created a wonderful garden at Kingswood , including diverting the stream and creating a pool that he excavated by hand and planting a fine collection of unusual and interesting plants . He travelled to most parts of the world accompanied by his camera and returned with a remarkable album of photographs . He married ( 1 ) Valerie Gardner in 1949 , who died in 1981 ; ( 2 ) Joan Raderick in 1983 , who died in 2017 . Survived by his son ; a son and a daughter predeceased .
Thomas ( Tom ) Greenwood ( E , 41-45 ); died 19.12.2020 . RB and RAEC 1945-8 . Clare College , Cambridge 1948 , 3 Econ , 3 Law , BA 1950 . ACA 1955 , FCA . He then worked for Gresham Lion Electronics ; Sturtevant Engineering ; Deloitte , Plender & Griffiths ; financial director , Epsylon Industries ; and SCF Equity Services Ltd . He was always interested in sport : sailing , tennis , skiing , with golf becoming a retirement pursuit . He enjoyed chess which he played at competition level and also taught informally . A committed Christian , which was reflected in his whole life : relationships with people in very many different situations and his considerable charitable work were a demonstration of this . A quiet and unassuming person who always responded to interesting discussion and could be relied on to offer a knowledgeable and stimulating contribution . He married ( 1 ) Gillian Eileen Tuck in 1956 ; ( 2 ) 1984 Elizabeth Hodgson , who survives him together with 2 sons and a daughter from his first marriage .

His main passion was sailing and boating : he converted his Thames river launch into one of the first electric boats on the river , winning several prizes for ‘ best looking boat ’ at Henley Regatta ; member of the Company of Watermen and Lightermen . He supported many charities and raised funds for the Centre for the Rehabilitation of the Paralysed , Bangladesh . He endeared himself to so many people across all walks of life : he was a true gentleman and put others before himself ; he had great wisdom which came naturally to him and which he imparted to others . He married Ann Elizabeth Richards in 1962 , who died in 2018 , and is survived by their 3 sons .
