Patrick( Paddy) Michael Fox( I, 71-76); died 1.4.2025. Head of House 1976, VI 1976( Capt), Soccer XI 1975-6. RMA Sandhurst 1977, 3 Bn Royal Green Jackets 1977-81, including 18 months in Northern Ireland. Oxford Polytechnic 1981-84, BSc Estate Management 1984. Donaldsons Chartered Surveyors 1984-93, rising to become Partner in charge of out-of-town retail development. He founded his own property company 1993: Chelverton is a specialist development company, with an investment arm, that has enjoyed an excellent track record for promoting schemes and obtaining planning consent for both landowners and retail occupier clients in the food and non-food sectors. Since its inception Chelverton has created more than 100,000 square metres of retailing space. He married Vanessa Brown in 1989, who survives him together with their 2 sons.
Hon James( Jamie) Robert Napier( G, 79-83); died 3.1.2025. Son of RAN. Soccer XI. Edinburgh University, 2( 1) Economics and Politics, 1988. Ski Rep for the Ski Club of Great Britain and Rep of the Year 1989. He joined HSBC in Hong Kong, training as an International Manager and serving in Hong Kong, Doha, Macau, Salalah, Muscat, London, New York and San Francisco. He took redundancy in 2007 and then travelled extensively, particularly for off-piste skiing and surfing. A good all-round sportsman, he took special pride in winning the Macau Open tennis tournament twice, beating

Joseph( Joe) William Saumarez Smith( B, 85-89); died 11.2.2025. Son of JSS. Editor, Wykehamist. Bristol University, BSc, first class, Politics. Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, MBA in Management, Strategy and Marketing. Thouron Award and also studied at London Business School as part of Wharton’ s International Exchange Programme. In 1995 he was appointed education correspondent of The Sunday Telegraph and was subsequently made transport and industry correspondent. In 1996 he moved to Express Newspapers as Education Editor of The Daily Express and The Sunday Express. In 1997 he was appointed Deputy Political Editor of The Sunday Express and wrote for a large number of newspapers and magazines as well as being a regular broadcaster, mainly about gambling. He was a hugely successful gambler and a lifelong follower of horseracing, visiting more than 200 racetracks. In December 2014 he was appointed a Non-Executive Director of the British Horseracing Authority, Chair 2022. He was an investor in numerous Internet start-ups and founded successful UK-facing brands such as BetUK. com and 21. co. uk.; Chief executive, Schoolsnet Ltd 1999- 2001; Chief executive, Sports Gaming Ltd

2001; Chairman Bede Gaming Ltd 2012. Sunday Times Young Computer Brain of the Year 1985. Patron of the Ben Kinsella Trust 2018. A keen cyclist and Arsenal fan. He married Wanda Marshall, who survives him together with a son and daughter. Obituaries in The Times and Telegraph.
Alastair( Ali) Leigh Travis( K, 02-07); died 25.1.2025. Son of RJT, brother of HMLT. Scholarship to Balliol College, Oxford, MChem 1st class; Andrew Pang Academic Scholar; Frazier Academic Scholar; William Westermann Pathfinders Award. Top of school in Inorganic Chemistry module; Distinction in Quantum Mechanics supplementary examination. President of the Balliol Chemistry Society and JCR President. Associate at Oliver Wyman, before leaving for Tide Bank where he was their tenth employee and ended up as Vice President. He then joined Silverbird Bank as Chief Product Executive in 2021, before being diagnosed with brain cancer. He was keen on Aikido at Win Coll and attended an Aikido Centre in Australia for six months during his gap year. He also enjoyed photography, travelling and ceramics. He married Cecily Gayford in 2022, who survives him, together with their son and daughter.
