Jonathan Trelawny Morshead( E, 56-59); died 3.3.2025. Son of JM, 4th generation of Wykehamists, father to son. Initially worked at the Stock Exchange, but he swiftly diverted his attention to the booming 1960’ s music scene and emerged as one of the true masters of the blues guitar. Amongst others, he played with Johnny Kidd and the Pirates, Rod Stewart’ s Shotgun Express, the Aynsley Dunbar Retaliation and later he formed Heavy Jelly. He jammed with the likes of Jimi Hendrix, David Gilmour and Peter Green. He left the music industry in 1971. He then established a trout farm in Kenya 1971- 87 and in 1972 was on an East African Airways flight which crashed during takeoff in Addis Ababa, killing 43 of the 107 on board. He returned to the British Isles in 1987, where he took a position as a ghillie at Uig Lodge on the Isle of Lewis: he was considered an outstanding fly fisherman. He then became a producer of smoked salmon in County Cork. He married Diana Clark in 1974, marriage dissolved 1985, and is survived by his partner Veryan. Obituary in The Times.
Mark Julian Sutherland-Harris( C, 56-61); died 29.12.2023. Son of JAS-H; brother of RES-H. VIII( cox), 3rd steeplecha 1961. Oriel College Oxford, 2 Mod Hist, MA 1965. Bank of England 1966-7. He had a long career at the Reserve Bank of Australia 1968-99, including a secondment to the Bank of Papua New Guinea 1975-6 during independence. He enjoyed squash, tennis and cricket amongst other interests. Travelling was also a big part of his life, including trips above the Arctic Circle and to Antarctica. He was a committed member of St Jude’ s Church, Dural, NSW for over 50 years. He married Janis Hence in 1969, who survives him together with their 2 daughters.
Robert( Robin) Malcolm Readhead( F, 57-62); died 5.3.2025. Son of RBR, brother of MBR, father of RHWR. VIII Henley, Bisley. Scholar RMA Sandhurst, Capt of Skiing 1963-4; 9 / 12 Royal Lancers( Prince of Wales’ Own Regt); Army Alpine Ski team 1964-8; BAOR 1964, Lt; UK 1966, Helicopter Pilot; FARELF 1967,
Helicopter Pilot Gurkha Brigade; Berlin 1970, Capt; Staff Coll 1975-6, psc; GSO 2 Ops 1 Armd Div 1979; Directing Staff, RMCS Shrivenham 1982; CO 9 / 12 L 1984; MOD 1987. After the army he did some property development for a few years before setting up an organic chicken farm at the family home in Wonston outside Winchester. His efforts in farming and his high-welfare approach to rearing chickens were recognised when he featured in an episode of Rick Stein’ s‘ Food Heroes’. After his farming days he found time for gliding( including in the mountains of New Zealand), boating, travelling, writing poetry and cowrie hunting. He married Janet Saunders in 1957, who survives him together with their 2 daughters and a son.

He married Henrietta Watson in 1968, who died in 2020, and is survived by their 2 daughters.
David Murray Davidson( K, 60-65); died 15.11.2024. Father of DJRD. Edinburgh University LLB. Admitted as Solicitor 1972 with Theodore Goddard; Associate, Kenwright and Cox 1976, Partner 1977; Partner, Penningtons 1986; Partner, Charles Russell LLP( head of Family Law Department, 2000-07, retired 2007, consultant 2007-12. Founding member, International Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers; secretary, SFLA Procedure Committee. He advised on all aspects of family work, particularly cases with an international aspect and / or substantial financial assets and difficult issues relating to children. Author and contributor to legal publications on Matrimonial Finance, Taxation & Pensions, including Pensions and Marriage Breakdown 2nd Ed. Legal 500 2004-5. He married Mary Sebag- Montefiore in 1973, who survives him together with 2 daughters and a son.
Patrick Edward Hunter-Jones( E, 64-68); died 27.1.2025. Lords 1967. Stockbroker with Buckmaster & Moore 1970-2; Vivian Gray & Co 1972, Partner 1980. He then worked for JM Finn 2007-19, after which he retired. He was an enthusiastic follower of sport- mainly cricket, golf, football and tennis. He was also very keen on travel as well as his dogs. He married( 1) Katharine Keane in 1983, and( 2) Julia St Clair-Ford in 1992, who survives him together with a son and a daughter from the first marriage and a son and daughter from the second.
Richard John Harwood( D, 64-69); died 19.1.2025. SOAS, University of London, 2 S Asian Hist, BA. Accountant, Overseas Development, for World Bank; IBRD, UN( Tropical Agriculture).
James Peter Stephen Fletcher( E, 65-70); died 17.1.2025. Half-brother of MTAF. Duncan Prize 1966, Kirby Prize for Musical Composition 1969, Queen’ s Gold Medal for English Verse 1970. Merton College, Oxford,( 3) Oriental Studies. NP Mander, organ manufacturer, 1976; L Kelaty, rug seller, 1980. He was subsequently a freelance office worker, mainly in magazine publishing, including the London Review of Books. He had a wealth of interests: classical music, burgundy fine wines( which he collected), whiskies, cheeses, Japanese, ice skating( which he took up in his 40s) and Citroën BX cars. He was also a very accomplished musician on the piano and saxophone – in the 1980s he played live and recorded with Robyn Hitchcock and the Egyptians.
