This 1,000 sq. ft. outdoor flight house is the perfect place to take time out and enjoy the tranquility of nature. Stop in for your last chance to enjoy the rainbow of flowers in bloom and graceful native butterflies fluttering in the sunlight. This limited-time exhibit ends Sept. 24. FREE "LIFE-LIKE" SCREENSAVER Presented by Flutter fest Saturday, Sept. 23, 10:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m Flutter by the Zoo for a day of unique hands-on fun celebrating the annual monarch butterfly migration. Activities include: • • • • • • Craft Stations. Create your own tie-dye butterflies, buggy headbands and more. Education Stations. Visit the life cycle and bug anatomy table. View specimen boxes and buggy artifacts. Butterfly Tagging. Help us tag more than 1,000 butterflies (first come, while untagged butterflies last) and be amazed at the release during the festival. Tagging monarchs helps to track their migration and monitor their population. Pollinator Parades. Wear your wings and join the fun! Kids can join our special pollinator parades at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. If you don't have your own wings, our gift shop has butterfly wings available for purchase. Storytime plus Meet and Greet The Very Hungry Caterpillar. Hear the beloved tale of a particularly hungry caterpillar. Stick around after storytime to meet The Very Hungry Caterpillar. Butterfly Talks and Release. Join us at 2 p.m. as butterfly expert Blair Leano- Helvey gives a talk on the importance of pollinators like monarch butterflies.
