third edition . Karayan adds :

Armando Arias , Marshall , MA
’ 77 , PhD ’ 81 , wrote Theorizing
Cesar Chavez : New Ways
of Knowing STEM , a book
revealing the shortcomings
and opportunities of the
STEM fields with a focus on
Latino youth . The book was
honored by the International
Latino Literary Book Awards
Association .
Manuelita Brown , MS , an
artist , contributed three
sculptures , including a
maquette of Sojourner
Truth for the “ 1619 National
Celebration of Black Women
Exhibit ” at the Women ’ s
Museum of California in
Liberty Station , San Diego .
1978
Jim Lebrecht , Marshall ,
co-directed the documentary
film , Crip Camp , about a
summer camp for disabled
teenagers that he attended
in the 1970s . Crip Camp
premiered at the Sundance
Film Festival in 2020 and
received the Audience Award :
U . S . Documentary . The film is
available on Netflix .

Liz Cademy , Muir , is a web
developer for Merrill Lynch .
She has two grown children :
one independent and one in
college . Her third child is her
very silly leopard gecko !

Christine Larson-Nitzsche ,
Muir , is a television producer
for Twenties , a single-camera
comedy series from Lena
Waithe that premiered on
BET in March . Other producer
credits include Twin Peaks :
The Return , The Newsroom ,
Community , and Numb3rs .
1983
Dr . Bradley P . Gilbert , MD ,
was appointed head of the
California Department of
Health Care Services ( CDHS )
by California Governor Gavin
Newsom . Last summer , Dr .
Gilbert retired from his role
as CEO of the Inland Empire
Health Plan .
Michael W . O ’ Toole ,
Warren , retired in 2019
after 35 years of teaching
and administration at St .
Vincent de Paul High School
in Petaluma , Calif . O ’ Toole
has fond memories of his
political science professors ,
working in Muir cafeteria , and
Phi Delta Theta . He is very
excited about UC San Diego ’ s
transition to Division I and
looks forward to attending
future Triton games !
