Tr e a s u r e C o a s t S p o r t s J o u r n a l www.TCSportsJournal.com Titan Girls Down Central The Treasure Coast Titans Girls Softball team won yet again on Friday February 28th, downing Fort Pierce Central in a much closer game than the final 6-1 score and pitcher Katlyn McCue struck out 12, walked none and allowed 5 hits in a 7 inning contest at Central. McCue also had 2 of her teams 3 RBI’s as the Titan girls belted out 7 hits while Senior Shortstop Michaela Sihler led the way for the Titans with 2 hits. Others connecting for base hits included Troy Test, Kara Flynn and Madison Travagini. The game saw plenty of action but none more so than when Titan Catcher Troy Test tagged out Centrals Alethia Jahn in the bottom of the fourth as Jahn was trying to score from second base. A perfect throw by the Titans defense landed right in Test’s glove and she easily swung around for the tag keeping the Titans 1-0 lead intact. Test, who is only a sophomore is arguably the best defensive catcher on the Treasure Coast. 42 The Titans schedule is packed next week as they face traditional powerhouse teams from Vero Beach on Monday, South Fork on Wednesday, Martin County on Thursday and John Carroll on Friday. Lady Eagles Finding Their Groove! March 2, 2014 Port St. Lucie, FL – The highly competitive na- ture of high school sports in Florida, especially along the Treasure Coast, is quite demanding on Student-Athletes. These high school aged kids take winning very seriously. So, when the St. Lucie West Centennial Eagles began their season with a few losses it was no wonder that the team would become stronger. The Lady Eagles learned important lessons at the beginning of the season dropping games to cross town rival Treasure Coast, as well as South Fork and Central. Their lone win was a 5-2 victory over Sebastian River on Valentine’s Day. Yet the early season losses have brought out the best in this highly talented and well-seasoned group of girls and
