Tulare County Association of Governments: Innovative and Sustainable Transportation Award
TRC was part of a team selected by the City of Tulare Public Works Department to design a grade separation at a grade crossing over a mainline UPRR track. TRC initially prepared the successful nominations for both State Proposition 1B HRCSA and SH190 PUC Grade Separation funding, which resulted in the award of $ 12.2 million for the project. Additionally, TRC performed preliminary bridge design and helped facilitate a consensus between the City and the team as to the best way to handle traffic during construction, and then performing bridge and retaining wall design, plans, specifications, and estimates for the site. Major project benefits include: increased safety; improved air quality; environmental justice; better emergency vehicle and evacuation access; and improved regional circulation.
Sustainable Storm Water Infrastructure Rainscaping Retrofit of Urban Plaza
On behalf of Lafayette Square Restoration Committee( LSRC) in St. Louis, MO, TRC successfully secured grant funding from the Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District for the design and construction of storm water best management practices( BMPs) including bioretention and pervious pavements.
Together, the BMPs improve a great streetscape by increasing walkability, biodiversity, plaza functionality, and provide a resource for educating residents about environmental impacts associated with storm water runoff.
East River Abatement, Decommissioning, and Restoration Project – New York Power Authority
At New York Power Authority’ s( NYPA) 850 MW Poletti Generating Station in Astoria, N. Y., TRC provided Owner’ s Engineering Services for the abatement, deconstruction, demolition and restoration of this site, which is located along the East River in New York City.
Project benefits included:
> > Zero incidents or accidents throughout design and procurement; > > 24,000 gross tons of non-ferrous steel recycled; and > > 2 million pounds of copper and 5,000 gross tons of masonry recycled.
