TRC and our subcontractors logged more than 39,000 field work hours on ExxonMobil projects in 2013 and we were one of only six ExxonMobil consultants to receive this honor. EMES tracks safety performance in all aspects of its business and relies on its consultants to do the same. TRC supports EMES’ efforts by adopting the “Loss Prevention System (LPS)” to analyze data and improve safety. TRC has several clients throughout the US that use the LPS system to improve safety performance and several of our key initiatives incorporate aspects of LSP. One of the key risks we face as an industry is motor vehicle incidents while driving to and from job sites. TRC employees drove over 17 million miles in FY 2014 between job sites. To address this risk, TRC initiated a Vehicle Safety Program, focusing on reducing vehicle incident frequency and severity. As part of this initiative, TRC developed the Drivers Risk Assessment Program (DRAP), which includes an assessment of selected employees who drive motor vehicles on behalf of TRC. TRC’s Vehicle Safety Subcommittee reviews industry best practices, identifies strategies for improvement, and implements defensive driving programs. To continually reinforce and embed our safety culture throughout the organization, safety performance, metrics, and lessons learned are regularly communicated to all employees. Additionally, we continually reinforce that safety is the responsibility of everyone, and that all employees are expected to stop work activities at any time and under any condition if they are concerned for their or other’s safety. TRC’s safety performance has shown continuous improvement over the last 3 years as we continue to strive for zero incidents for our employees, subcontractors, and clients. Our Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR) for CY 2013 is 0.50, which is 38% lower than our CY 2012 TRIR. Our Lost Workday Case Rate (LWCR) for CY 2013 is 0.13 which is 52% lower than our CY 2012 LWCR. These rates include all employees directed by TRC. FY14 Target Partially Achieved: Zero Incidents/Zero Harm. Target renewed for FY15. FY14 Target Achieved: Initiate safety management system in conformance with OHSAS 18001 in FY14. FY15 Target: Implement TRC’s Health and Safety Management System following the OHSAS 18001 framework. In FY14, we had zero incidents of non-compliance with laws and regulations concerning the health and safety of our services. TRC received numerous safety awards in FY14. Two notable examples include: • Global Safety Recognition from ExxonMobil for no Reportable Injuries/ Illnesses in 2013 • Gold Star Award from Chevron Products Company for no Lost Time or Recordable Injuries in 2013 30 | 2014 Sustainability Report
