Physical

Daily Routine and Schedule

To take care of ourselves means to bring our energy in harmony with the energy of the universe. Our body is the vehicle to play out our purpose in this life. Yoga and Ayurveda provide the best method to care for the body and the planet while uplifting universal consciousness. Through the techniques of Yoga and Ayurveda our daily routines become an act of devotion; and a sense of mindfulness is developed. When we are mindful of our own body/mind we develop a self-awareness that can lead to a Self-awareness that includes all life on the planet. So when you connect with your own physiology, you can connect with outer physiology. We learn to take care ourselves, through self-awareness, rather than relying on doctors or prescription medication. Through the nurturing practices of abhyanga, and/or daily marma massage, we nurture ourselves and are less likely to meet nurturing needs through shopping, indulging in junk food or sweets or in unhealthy relationships.

Self-care leads to universal healing. Less demand results in less supply of the “stuff” that is cluttering up our body and the planet with toxicity (ama). We have been under the idea that to experience nature we have to go to a national park, the ocean or a place dedicated to preservation of an environment. It is time to realize that we are nature, as is our front yard, our street, neighborhood, city, and on. We cannot continue to dump toxic chemicals into our body (prescription medication), our yard (to control weeds) or in our city.

Diet

Eating for our specific needs focused on local, organic products. An Ayurvedic diet is based on the principle that you are what you eat. If you eat junk, that toxicity will manifest itself in the body/mind somewhere. The population is aware now of the dangers of certain foods/drinks. It is interesting that people cannot change their habits. It is easier to continue the status quo then to venture out in uncharted territory. Eat healthy, yes, everyone knows this but how to begin. It begins by educating people on where food is coming from and how our current system of food supply and demand is affecting the planet.
