Yoga

Yoga is not an exercise but the understanding that once we are aware of our body, our breath and our mind and they are united in health and well-being we flow with the energy of the universe and are better able to make healthy choices rather than react from habit. There can be no healing without relaxation. The body has the capacity to heal itself, but only if we have achieved a state of self-awareness that enables us to listen to our body’s sensations which are the language of the body.

Mental/Emotional

It is important to start your day with a sense of peace. Morning meditation helps to clear the scattered thoughts of the mind and to bring stability and security. Also, most of us live isolated lives, achieving our sense of community through television. We find that the majority of the time we don’t want to burden others with our mental/emotional struggles. They are seen as a weakness. When a problem does arise and help is sought, it is the psychiatrist or family doctor that hands out the medication…just take one of these and you’ll feel better. What is needed is a daily grooming of our thoughts as well as our physical body. Our taking the time to be vigilant about weeding the garden of the mind is an offering to the mental health of the planet. It is also clear that when the diet is purified and the body is functioning optimally, it is much easier to have a calm, steady mind.

Spiritual

In the past our understanding of the environment was one of a living universe where spirits/gods controlled the forces of nature. Various world mythologies developed out of this idea creating an intimate relationship between nature and ourselves.
