Landscaping Check

It is important to properly prune trees and palms to help them withstand winds and to prevent limbs from becoming flying debris in a storm. Prune your trees regularly, but do not prune or landscape when a storm is approaching since yard waste can become projectiles in the storm. Be aware that certain tree trimming services are offered at this time of year specifically for storm prep, but they often employ pruning methods that are a violation of Town Code and can, in fact, damage the tree. Be sure your landscape company uses a certified arborist for proper pruning. You can verify a credential or search for a local arborist at www. TreesAreGood. org. Follow Town Code for Safety

Some code violations can lead to safety issues if a storm hits. Below are tips from the Code Compliance Division to help make sure your structures are secure for hurricane season.

• Remove accumulated items from yards so they don’ t become flying debris in a storm.

• Finish up home projects to make homes more secure before a storm hits. For example, repair loose or damaged areas of fencing, particularly where pools exist.

• Repair roofs, broken windows or doors to help maintain the structure’ s integrity.

• Use proper storm shutters or plywood installation. Taping windows for a storm is not safe or effective.

Residents may be eligible to apply for two dollars in state grant money for every one dollar they spend on eligible home strength improvements. The state grant is for a maximum amount of $ 10,000. Participating in the program may also potentially lower the homeowner’ s insurance premiums.

Town Hall Community Room Wednesday, July 29 • 9:00- 10:30 am

This event features a relaxed atmosphere where residents are invited to enjoy a free cup of coffee while sharing thoughts with members of the Town Council.

For those that prefer evenings, the next Connect with Council Open House will be held in October at the Jupiter Community Center. In addition to Town Council, various Town departments as well as external agencies are in attendance allowing residents to learn about projects occurring in the Jupiter area. Routine Free Chlorine Maintenance

The Town’ s water system will undergo free chlorination maintenance from July 14 through August 4. This temporary process distributes free chlorine in place of combined chlorine( a mix of ammonia and chlorine) to proactively disinfect the distribution system and guard against bacterial growth. Free chlorine is an approved disinfectant for drinking water and is safe to drink. This routine industry practice is recommended by federal, state and local regulators. The addition of chlorine is closely monitored and maintained within the safe range required by drinking water regulations. The maintenance program will include daily testing to monitor water quality. Water Quality Report

On May 1, the Town’ s Water Utility, in coordination with Community Relations, completed and published the 2025 Consumer Confidence Report( CCR). Also known as the“ Drinking Water Quality Report,” this annual report is required by Florida law to be provided to all water customers. The CCR is designed to inform and reassure the community by presenting the results of comprehensive water quality testing, along with clear explanations to help readers understand the data and the Town’ s ongoing efforts to maintain a safe and reliable drinking water supply. The 2025 report confirms that water produced and delivered by the Jupiter Water Utility meets or exceeds all state and federal standards. Customers will receive the 2025 CCR with their water bills this month. It is also available at the Utilities Customer Service counter at Town Hall, as well as on the Town’ s website and social media pages. Apply for a Stormwater Grant Today

Applications are open for the Town’ s Private Stormwater Improvement Grant Program. This program provides financial assistance to homeowner associations and other private entities to fund projects that improve the water quality discharging from their stormwater management systems, provide erosion control or help minimize flooding. Qualifying projects are eligible to receive reimbursement for up to 50 % of construction costs. Associations and private entities interested in this program can apply at jupiter. fl. us / StormwaterGrant. Applications can also be mailed to the Town of Jupiter Utilities at 17403 Central Boulevard or submitted via e-mail to stormwater @ jupiter. fl. us. If an application is submitted by email, make sure to request a read receipt to ensure it was received, and include“ Private SW Improvement Grant Application” in the subject line. A committee will review all applications received and Town Council will award recipients that will benefit the regional stormwater system. Proposals should only include capital improvements to facilities that reduce existing flooding and / or produce benefits to water quality. Help Protect Local Water Resources

Jupiter residents are keenly aware of the responsibility we share to protect our beautiful natural resources. Over the years, the Town has taken measures to not only preserve the quality of Jupiter’ s water but also to conserve its use to ensure its longevity. The Town’ s code outlines its Water and Irrigation Program, and it provides guidance on the prudent use of water and landscape irrigation.

As a reminder, in an effort to protect the Town’ s surface water quality, the use of fertilizers during rainy season( June 1 through September 30) is prohibited. Many commercial fertilizers contain nutrients, like nitrogen and phosphorus, which can become harmful stormwater runoff affecting water quality. Common fertilizers available at home improvement and lawn care stores most likely contain these ingredients and are subject to the ban. Residents and businesses should consider alternative fertilizers or“ Florida-friendly” landscaping options that do not present a threat to Jupiter’ s natural water resources( visit befloridiannow. org for more information).
