Every year on September 27th World Tourism Day is commemorated. The purpose of this day is to inform the community in general about the importance of tourism, due to it’s social, cultural, political and economics aspects.
Its main purpose is to contribute to strengthen the global challenges related tothe United Nations development goals for the millennium and to influence the contribution that the tourism sector can make to achieve these objectives.
The theme of this year is: Tourism and employment: A better future for all, it is the central message of World Tourism Day 2019, which was officially celebrated at a high level summit in New Delhi, India. Therefore, the OMT recognizes 2019 as the year of Employment, skills and work. This is how representatives from more than 100 countries met in New Delhi to recognize and celebrate the capacity of the sector for creating more and better jobs, including women, youth and minorities.
To this celebration, fourth semester students from the Unicolombo Bachelor of Business in Tourism and Hospitality Management joined to celebrate this day with a Eco party, which was based on topics related to the environment and tourism.
During the event, different activities could be appreciated for the knowledge of the topics as well as the correct way to recycle and the importance we must take into account when taking care of our environment. The event included pleasant snacks and music according to the atmosphere.
