MADISON WEST UPDATE
BY FRANCES BARTOLUTTI, MADISON WEST LATIN CLUB PRESIDENT
Salvete WJCLers!
These few months have been very busy for MadWest. We had our board elections in mid March
which resulted in the following officers for the 2016-2017 Madison West Latin Board:
President: Frances Bartolutti
1st VP: Henry Zavos
2nd VP: Hazel Brown
Parliamentarian: Lauren Bayouth
Secretary: Finn Gunderson
Historian: Artemis Sidikman
Treasurer: Emma Cortright
Certamen Coordinator: Orion Jetzer
LUKAS BIENEMAN
BECOMES A MEME.
On Sunday the 3rd of April we cleaned out Mags' chicken coops and barns. Mags is a chicken
farmer and her hens require the utmost care. Due to her extreme knee injury she was not able to do this herself, and
MadWest Latin club was happy to help her.
Our club Treasurer Emma Cortright has come up with a great t-shirt sponsorship campaign to raise money for our
scholarship fund. At Madison West Public High School For The Arts, (comma) For The Win, there are a lot of classics
enthusiasts who want to go to convention but they don't have the money to do so. In the past our scholarship fund has
been relatively limited due to our lack of funding. With Emma's t-shirt project we have as of now succeeded in raising our
fund to its all time highest level, and the sponsorship campaign isn't finished yet!
For National Classics Week MadWest celebrated in two different ways. On Tuesday the 19th we had an Odysseus
presentation that was played every hour and then the different classes played a Kahoot game to inspire competition with
a classical touch. On Friday the 22nd we had a toga day to spread NCW knowledge to the rest of our school.
That's what Madison West Latin has been up to the past few months. Gratias vobis ago WJCL!
