Lillie B. Hamilton Awards

The Lillie B. Hamilton Award is given to the highest achieving, well-rounded students at NJCL convention. Students are ranked by their combined scores in multiple categories of individual points. Trophies are given to commemorate their phenomenal accomplishments. This year's winner's are:

At the NJCL Convention this year, NJCL Programs/Scholastic Services Chair Sherry Jankowski announced the NJCL Scholarship recipients. This year’s winners are:

Maya Nandakumar, a graduate of The Harker School, CA, received the Jesse Chambers scholarship of $1,500. Miss Chambers served the NJCL many years as Federations Chairman of the National Junior Classical League.

Lauren Nguyen, a graduate of Wheeler High School, GA, received the Belle Gould scholarship of $1,500. Miss Belle Gould was the first editor of the Torch: U.S. She also served for many years as the Chairman of the Committee.

Julia Pan, a graduate of Boston Latin School, MA, received the Margaret & Eugene Halligan scholarship of $1,500. This scholarship is in memory of Mrs. Halligan’s devoted service to JCL in Illinois.

Alexander Key, a graduate of Rossview High School, TN, received the Red & Rhea Miller scholarship of $1,500. This scholarship was established at the 1986 NJCL Convention in Indiana.

Tashi Treadway, a graduate of John Handley High School, VA, received the Maureen O’Donnell scholarship of $1,500. This scholarship was established in 1989 in memory of Mrs. O’Donnell for her years of service as a Latin teacher and VJCL co-chair.

Sarah Christian, a graduate of St. Joseph’s Academy, LA, received the Sr. Jeanette Plante scholarship of $1,500. This scholarship was established in 2002 in memory of Sr. Jeanette, a past National Committee member and supporter of JCL.

Narayan Sundararajan, a graduate of Shaker Heights High School, OH, received the $1,200 Renata Motiu Scholarship. Ms. Motiu taught Latin in Michigan for 33 years. She taught two former NJCL national officers.

Ben Robertson, a graduate of Shaker Heights High School, OH, received the Rhea Miller scholarship of $1,500. This scholarship honors Mrs. Miller who served as Convention Advisor to the National Junior Classical League for many years.

Anna Werkowski, a graduate of Crown Point High School, IN, received the Susan & Dennis Webb scholarship of $2,500. This scholarship was established in 2003, when Mr. and Mrs. Webb made a generous gift to the NJCL.

Andrew Bryce Deskins, a graduate of St. Andrew’s Upper School, TX, received the $1250 Chester Tylinski scholarship. Established in 2012, this scholarship is rewards a student with the qualities of Mr. Tylinski, an incredible guide and mentor to many.

Jesse Campbell, a graduate of the Summit Country Day School, OH, received the $2,000 Anne B. Covington National Latin Honor Society Scholarship.
