Salvete, amici!
The SCJCL has been undergoing lots of exciting changes. First, we got a rad new state chair who has been awesome in helping us stay organized and plan for our state events. In addition to that, we’ve been improving our communication, between both officers and chapters, to create a more in-the-know SCJCL.
Our hardworking officers have been diligent to improve wherever they can. Our 1st VP has been doing great work reaching schools with Latin that aren’t in JCL yet. He’s successfully gotten three new schools to join, with more on the way. Our 2nd VP is improving our state spirit competition. The Parliamentarian has drafted amendments to the constitution that will be voted on at the upcoming Spring Forum and has hosted our first ever pre-election information session so people interested in running for office had a chance to talk to current officers beforehand. The Historian has been adding themed days (like Meme Monday and Trivia Tuesday) to our social media, which has resulted in lots of new followers and participation. She and our state chair have also been improving our website, which including shifting to a new platform to create a more user-friendly navigation system. The editor has begun using a template for our state publication, the Torch: SC. Last, but not least, our junior representatives have been helping out all of our officers to learn all they can and facilitate communication between the high school and middle school chapters.
The SCJCL board has also been hard at work planning our Spring Forum, our version of a state convention, which will be held on March 15th. Every year, the Spring Forum is held at the president’s school, and this year it will be held at Dreher High School. The Spring Forum will include officer elections, olympika, certamen, graphic arts, and many other contests. Total points are counted, and at the end of the day, one middle school and one high school will be deemed the winners of the Spring Forum!
In other news, one of our chapters has just completed a service project raising money for a local children’s home! They raised over six hundred dollars, which will greatly benefit the home.
We look forward to seeing y’all this summer at convention!
What does SCJCL have that you're sure no other JCL does?
