Salvete!

I have had a splendid winter being in office. My big accomplishments were running a successful Convocatio, where we played various games and bonded with fellow JCLers from across the country, and helping run a successful Classcialia, which was filled with wonderful speakers and memorable games. In addition, I have been facilitating monthly meetings with the officers, where I have been assisting them in their goals and duties in office. I also met with state officers in December and hope to hold another meeting soon so that we can discuss updates and I can provide my help and advice for them. Finally, I have been working on preparing for the convention by starting to create an agenda for the Spring Planning Meeting and working on the Conventional Wisdom Packet for first-time attendees. Gratias et Valete!

2023-2024 NJCL President

Salvete omnes,

As I’m writing this, there are almost exactly five months until the 2024 National Convention, and I think my countdown is what’s getting me through this snowy winter.

Anyway, a lot has happened in the last three months. I’ve continued to create and publish activity packets, hosted Zoom meetings for state First Vice Presidents to share their projects and ideas, helped out with Convocatio, and ran Classicalia (happy belated Valentines day and Lupercalia). I’ve finalized the details for a virtual NJCL peer tutoring program, and sign-ups are out now! Also, Natalie and I created the National Classics Week Packet together, and we can’t wait for you all to read it.

Please reach out to me ([email protected]) with any questions or suggestions (or for anything at all, really). Valete!

Sophie Heitfield

2023-2024 NJCL First Vice President
