The past few months, the Indiana Junior Classical League has held very exciting events! The officers and committee members have been busy gearing up for our State Convention and finalizing the plans to make IJCL State 2024 one to remember! The IJCL team has also been at work recruiting and advertising State so that more people will be able to attend. Also, our Certamen teams have had a lot of fun at the tournaments. On February 10th, the 36th annual Certamen Invitational was held in Indianapolis at Classical Studies of Indianapolis. Both the students and volunteers had a great time! We are looking forward to what the future holds!

The Hawaii chapter of the NJCL has a busy and exciting start to 2024! We continue to hold Certamen practices every Tuesday and Friday during lunch. These have been a source of friendly competition as well as camaraderie for Latin and non-Latin students alike. From our regular players, we assembled teams to compete in the online Keartamen 5/Agon tournament over the past several weeks. Our competitors were Owen Ching, Noelani Hiltner, Ari Ito, Gabby Kim, Audrey Lin, Camden Schopler, and Baiyi Wang.

This past week, the Classics Club at 'Iolani School hosted a Lupercalia celebration featuring the sacrifice of a goat piñata (well, actually a rainbow-colored bull, because that's all we could find at the local party store!), Lupercalia trivia, and delicious treats. In the coming weeks, all Latin students at 'Iolani will take the National Latin Exam, while the Latin 5 Honors students will also take the Vergilian Society's Keely Lake Memorial Translation Exam.
