After a thrilling 2023 FJCL Fall Forum, the FJCL continues to shine its way through the year in all realms. First, the FJCL on its Instagram begins the tradition of having a school spotlight, in which schools can submit several pictures in order to publicize their outstanding achievements. Next, the FJCL published their FJCL State Forum motto: Felix qui potuit rerum cognoscere causas. With 2024 starting off, the FJCL dives deep into their Regional Latin Forum season in which 8 regions across the state participated in testing, Ludi, Certamen, and other classical activities. During this event, the FJCL organized another Game Night in order to connect students across the state through a common means. For the first time, the University of Florida announces its own Certamen tournament for students to attend from across the state. On the FJCL website, all the forms and registration for the 75th FJCL State Forum are updated. The officers are currently working on activities to make this forum memorable for all who attend. Although the year may be slowly coming to an end, the FJCL is buzzing with excitement for future events such as the 75th FJCL State Forum and the 2024 NJCL Convention.

Salvete,
The DCJCL is still going strong! Over the last few months, we’ve had several teams from different schools attend Certamina in both Virginia and Maryland. We are excited for our own Certamen tournament at St. Albans School on April 6th (email [email protected] for more details). We have also begun the planning process for a DMV collaboration event early in the summer!

Salvete omnes! GJCL has had a wonderful few winter months unlike Caesar in De Bello Gallico VI. We’ve been as busy as his Roman legionnaires though! In November, the GJCL held Praetoria, an online workshop to showcase what being an officer is like and encouraging more participation in the GJCL with over 40 members joining our board in fun activities. Eastside High School also hosted a winter Certamen contest, filled with competitive spirit and festive cheer. In addition, GJCL is planning on hosting a middle school event in February to encourage younger students to study the classics. We on the board have also had a splendid time planning for State Convention this April, and we look forward to seeing everybody back together at National Convention in July. See you soon!
