Salvete, amici! I’m so excited for a new year full of classics and JCLove! Your officers have been hard at work over the past few months, both with our individual projects and larger group efforts. I would like to especially recommend that all of you take a look at the National Classics Week Packet and begin preparing to participate. There are so many ways we can show our love and appreciation for the Latin and the classics and promote them to others. We’re all so excited to see what you come up with!
I would also like to call your attention to the Officers’ Packet Award (bit.ly/2020PacketAward, applications due March 31). This award is — you guessed it — a convention packet granted to an applicant chosen by the national officers. I encourage all of you to apply, and/or pass on the application information to anyone you think might be interested.
I’m looking forward to Spring Planning Meeting in a few months, and, of course, to seeing all of you in July!
E corde,
Jocelyn Robertson

Salvete amici! It has been a thrilling and eventful year serving as your First Vice President. I am extremely excited to meet with the committee again for the Spring Planning Meeting and especially this summer’s convention!
The NJCL is extremely ecstatic to announce the release of this year’s National Classics Week Packet. The theme selected for this year is Journeys of the Ancient World. Each journey has a detailed description by one of your seven NJCL officers followed by fun activities and community service projects that correlate to the journey. Also, in the efforts of highlighting successful women of the ancient world in our packet, the days alternate between a journey of a woman, then a man, and finally end with the journey of Rome’s founding.
One goal of mine in the upcoming future is to correspond more frequently with the state 1st VPs more than I have previously in my term of office. I have been corresponding previously with students across the nation providing them with advice and tips to see growth in membership in their classics communities. However, henceforth I intend to utilize the state 1st VPs more than I have recently to locate low areas of membership and provide advice and solutions more efficiently across the NJCL.
Andrew Saverance
2019-2020 NJCL 1st Vice President
