Enhance and update the Town ’ s traffic mitigation plans for roadways not meeting the Town ’ s level of service standards
Town Council reviewed the updated mitigation plans at its September 23 , 2021 meeting . Staff also presented an update on current Town of Jupiter , Palm Beach County and State of Florida roadway projects .

Longshore Drive and Northfork Drive Jurisdictional Control
Approved the transfer of jurisdictional control and rightof-way ownership of Longshore Drive and Northfork Drive from Palm Beach County to the Town of Jupiter .
Pursue opportunities to extend South Island Way in order to improve traffic in the west Indiantown Road corridor ( see # 3 on page 12 )
Town Council held a roundtable discussion at its meeting on June 1 , 2021 . An offer to purchase the right-of-way for the project has been extended to FLF Holdings and staff has met with the owner to discuss the acquisition further .
U . S . 1 Bridge ( see # 17 on page 13 )
The Florida Department of Transportation held virtual and live community outreach meetings at the Jupiter Community Center on September 27 and 28 , 2021 . Intersection improvements - at Alt A1A and Old Dixie Highway , U . S . 1 and Indiantown Road , Indiantown Road and Alt A1A , and Alt A1A and U . S . 1 - for the detour route as well as improvements to the Loxahatchee River bridge began in October 2021 . The U . S . 1 bridge is scheduled to close in the Spring of 2023 , with traffic being detoured to Alt A1A through the fall of 2024 , a span of 20 months . A single lane in each direction is scheduled to open on the new U . S . 1 bridge in the fall of 2024 , followed by the opening of all four lanes in the spring of 2025 . The contractor has several incentives to complete the project on time , including $ 3.5 million to meet the deadline of ending the detour , $ 1.5 million for completing both lanes in each direction and $ 1 million for completion of the project within the original time allotted .
The Town regularly shares closure and construction information on the Town website , social media sites and through emails in order to lessen the impacts on residents and businesses .
Ensure the advancement of Indiantown Road improvements between I-95 and Central Boulevard through collaboration , as well as clarify the proposed scope of improvements for the project ( see # 2 on page 12 )
Town staff worked with FDOT to establish the scope and project schedule for road work along this stretch of Indiantown Road . Work on the project is scheduled to begin in FY2023 ( October 1 , 2022-September 30 , 2023 ).
Employ strategies to reduce the number of conflicts between vehicles , pedestrians and cyclists and manage traffic
An updated traffic mitigation plan was presented at the September 23 , 2021 Town Council meeting . A project to install a roundabout at A1A and Jupiter Beach Road went out for bid in January 2022 . The roundabout at Central Boulevard and University Drive was completed by Palm Beach County ande staff continues to work with Palm Beach County on improving signage and pavement markings .

Review building height standards for appropriateness of scale in the community
The Town Council amended the Town ’ s code to modify regulations on building heights and eliminated the bonus programs in the U . S . 1 / Intracoastal Waterway corridor and the Inlet Village zoning district .

Jupiter Medical Center Expansion
Approved an amendment to the site plan to expand the surgical center , emergency department and central energy plant at Jupiter Medical Center located at 1210 Old Dixie Highway .
