Challenges to installation
A key challenge during installation was the presence of pre-installed outdoor units and riser piping before the final interior layouts were confirmed. The engineering team had to adapt the refrigerant networks to suit new layouts without replacing the main risers, a task that required precise load balancing and intelligent circuit design.
The system utilises a dedicated fresh air strategy with Clivet Air Handling Units( AHUs) linked to Samsung DVM outdoor units. Three AHUs supply 100 % fresh air from the ground floor to Level 4, supported by MSP ducted indoor units for designated zones. This approach ensures excellent air quality while optimising energy efficiency.
By integrating BACnet and PIM interfaces, the entire HVAC network is connected to a smart management platform, allowing smooth communication with other building systems.
This connectivity enables centralised monitoring and data-driven optimisation, signalling a shift from reactive maintenance to predictive performance management. The result is improved energy efficiency, smoother operations, and greater comfort for occupants – key features of next-generation building design.
Today, The Precinct stands as a showcase of Samsung’ s engineering capability and Fourways Mauritius’ project expertise, a space where every indoor climate is finetuned for comfort, energy efficiency, and modern design.

Investec Mauritius: Precision in every detail
Another prime example of Samsung innovation in action is Investec Mauritius, where the client’ s brief focused on design accuracy, acoustic performance, and continuous operation.
Led by Gerrie Englebrecht, Head of IT Infrastructure and Facilities at Investec, the project called for an HVAC system that combined aesthetics with technical excellence. Fourways Group managed the project as both consultant and direct supplier, collaborating with Maash, a trusted local installer.
The system utilises a combination of Samsung 360 Cassettes, 4-way cassettes, 1-way cassettes, and midwall splits, all connected to Samsung DVM condensers. This selection of indoor units is designed to deliver consistent comfort across various room types, including open-plan offices, boardrooms, and server spaces.

One of the most important aspects of the design was ensuring 100 % redundancy for server rooms. Each server room contains two midwall units, one linked to the central DVM system and another independent unit acting as a backup to maintain cooling during any potential power or system failure.
