The reality of the Hebrew Scriptures is that the God of Israel appears to many of the forefathers , prophets , and heroes of Israel in the form of a man . He walked with Adam in the cool of the day . ( Gen . 3 ) He ate lunch and negotiated the fate of Sodom and Gomorrah with Abraham . ( Gen . 18 ) He wrestles with Jacob ( Gen . 32 ) and is seen by Joshua before the battle at Jericho . ( Josh . 5 ) He revealed Himself to Isaiah ( Isa . 6 ), Ezekiel ( Ezek . 1 ) and to Daniel ( Dan . 10 ) who saw the God of Israel in a glorified yet human form . Nearly everyone who sees Him in a human form bows or falls down and worships Him .
HE WAS BORN
As Jewish followers of Yeshua , we not only accept the reading of the Tanakh in its most literal meaning , but we also believe that Yeshua is the God of Israel born in human flesh . He is the visible image of the invisible God . ( Col . 1:15 ) The stunning reality of Yeshua ’ s incarnation is one of the greatest miracles since the creation of the heavens and the earth . John equates these two creative wonders in opening his gospel : “ In the beginning was the Word , and the Word was with God , and the Word was God … And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us , and we beheld His glory , the glory as of the only begotten of the Father ...”. ( John 1:1 , 14 )
