MARCH - APRIL 2014
OF THE MONTH
AISK VS. HILLEL POLO TOURNAMENT
The third Annual Inter-school Polo Tournament was held on April 9th at Kingston Polo Club. Hillel’s team was given a 1-goal
advantage, as their team was not as strong as their opponent’s. Team captain Dylan Wong and new comers, Richard Lechler,
Rebecca Young and Brandon Hussey represented Hillel Academy and Savannah Hussey, Daniel Crowther and newcomer,
Drew deGraffenried, represented the American International School of Kingston. Coaches decided on a ‘3 a side’ match and
the field was made shorter. AISK had goals scored by all players; Savannah
and Daniel were able to procure 3 goals each and Drew scored 1.
Unfortunately Hillel was not able to make a score against their formidable
opponents and the 3-chukka match resulted in a 7-1 score to AISK. The
Helen Young Inter-School Polo Silver Cup was presented to AISK, making
them the current and undefeated champions of this tournament. Dylan Wong
was also presented with an award for the match’s Most Valuable Player.
Congratulations and words of encouragement were issued to players by JPA
and KPC president, Mr. Denis Lalor, Hillel’s sports director, Mr. Bennett
and AISK’s sports director, Mr. Ransom. Thanks to Mr. Denis Lalor, Paul
Lalor and Mark Wates who loaned horses to the tournament, without your
generosity, this would not have been possible.
