Robert A. Pothier retired to Florida for five years, now is living in South Carolina. He enjoys golf, reading and walking. Robert and his wife, Dana, have nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren. G. Robert Wentworth tells us that nearly every second Saturday of the month, he is a helper at the Hilltop Baptist Church in Cornish, Maine. He prepares the breakfast and gives a short devotional prayer. 1952 Helen Rancourt Hilton and her husband, George, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in April this year. They spend winters in Florida and summers in New Hampshire. He does a lot of traveling and hopes to be in Maine the fall of 2010 to visit Thornton and keep in touch with his classmates. The Kennedy family has four Thornton graduates. Raymond Pullen will turn 77 in 2010, still lives in Lyman, Maine and has been married for 53 years. He has been retired for 17 years and enjoys good health, four children, and five grandchildren. Tells us “love lobster-ate 36 through the year. Can you believe it?” He misses a lot of his deceased classmates. 1954 Nancy Atkinson Brookshire is keeping very busy helping at a ranch, which does therapeutic riding for children and adults with disabilities. Donald C. Spulick is now living in the new MacArthur Home on Elm Street in Biddeford. The apartments are for senior citizens and are new and very nice. 1955 Betty Ann Grace Lewis enjoyed the Senior Alumni Reunion luncheon in September. “It was wonderful seeing former classmates and our gym teacher, Caroline Strong. I hope to make it back next year and will get to see even more classmates. In the meantime, “I am burning up in this ninety degree heat in Florida! SO, I am keeping a low profile”. 1956 Benjamin G. Hall is moving to Florida in Septmeber 2010. James A. Northway told the Alumni Office, “I just received my Summer 2009 Postscripts and LOVE the new design. It is so much easier to read and the colored pictures are a great asset. Living in the South now and only getting back to Saco for vacations and reunions I always look forward to the Postscripts so I can keep up with my friends from Thornton.”. 1957 Class Agent: Robert Keithley 16 Gallant Dr Saco, ME 04072-9610 207-602-6060 or [email protected] Ethel Boothby Beaudoin has moved from Ocean Park back to Saco. Ethel tells Thornton “I only lived four miles from Saco , but I felt a wonderful sense of belonging when I moved back. I now walk the same streets as when I was in TA & I walk the campus now and again”. Roland Ledoux enjoys visiting friends and his mother. He enjoys keeping up with sports, football and baseball. Kenneth E. Poitras retired from teaching Freshman Composition and Literature at Antelope Valley Community College. He is now doing genealogical research in New Orleans and New France back to 1640. Leone Cloutier Rickabaugh tells us “2009 was a year to remember. On the road in our RV for 6 months and our 10th trip to Alaska. Now enjoying our home, family and Maine. Glad we had a chance to see this great country”! Odessa Nason Szumita is doing better now than she was at the 50th reunion. She is sorry she wasn’t able to mingle and talk to all her classmates but will keep in contact with many by e-mail. 1958 Mary Ellen Donovan Molloy attended Thornton Academy’s Athletic Hall of Fame as Thornton inducted her brother Daniel Donovan ’59 into TA’s Hall of Fame. Marjorie Cole Thompson is involved in gardening (on a 500 ft bluff overlooking the Mississippi River in Wisconsin) painting, sewing and church. Her husband, Dewey, and her are “lucky-still healthy and busy after 15 years of retirement”. 1959 Daniel Hall and his wife, Elizabeth, still spend four plus months of the year in Scotland. In 2010 they will be attending the Passion Play in Europe. Life in The Villages in Florida continues to be a great move. Ernest “Ernie” Morrill is still in Rhode Island. He plays a lot of golf. He has four grandchildren. 1960 Andy Kochis is starting to learn about Facebook. Dorothy Ouellette Twombly is still working part-time in the infant room at a day care. She is looking forward to the 50th clas ́ɕչ
