Former steelworks – Teesworks is the UK’ s largest brownfield regeneration project.
Teesworks
Nothing captures the scale of Tees Valley’ s ambitions quite like Teesworks.
Covering 4,500 acres of the former Redcar steelworks site, it is the UK’ s largest brownfield regeneration project and one of Europe’ s most significant industrial opportunities, attracting billions of pounds of investment.
Offering direct connectivity to deepwater port facilities, the North Sea and beyond, it is home to SeAH Wind UK’ s enormous monopile manufacturing facility, with Net Zero Teesside the next big project underway.
The Turner Prize
Hailed as a“ once-in-a-generation cultural moment”, the decision to bring the world-renowned Turner Prize to Middlesbrough in 2026 is recognition of how far the region’ s cultural offer has evolved.
The award will be hosted at Middlesbrough Institute of Modern Art( MIMA), which has earned a national reputation for contemporary art and continues to challenge perceptions of the Tees Valley.
The exhibition will run for six months, bringing national and international attention to the region, while attracting tens of thousands of art lovers.
Teesside International Airport
Once written off by some, Teesside International Airport is growing again. Passenger numbers continue to rise, new routes are being added and its role as a gateway for business, freight and investment is becoming increasingly important.
Wilton International
Few industrial locations can match the scale of Wilton International. Operated by Sembcorp Energy UK, the site is home to a wide range of businesses and offers energy-intensive industries large-scale development land, energy and utilities.
