A modest approach doesn’ t mean there isn’ t plenty to shout about at the Education Training Collective
OUTSTANDING
RESULT!
They don’ t like to make a song and dance about what they do at the Education Training Collective( Etc.), but if they did – and if you’ ve seen their students’ theatre shows before, you’ ll know – chances are, it would be a showstopper.
Despite the group’ s modest approach, performing arts and creative courses at Stockton Riverside College are something the Etc. is known for, but with five very different providers making up the group, there are lots more strings to its bow.
From scaffolding training to musical theatre, law to health and social care, the Etc. offer is certainly diverse. But one thing every department has in common is a commitment to deliver skills that are truly needed, in an environment that enables its learners to thrive.
And they’ re clearly doing it well, for in the summer, the Etc. was rated Outstanding by Ofsted – an incredible outcome that reflects years of hard work, commitment and passion.
And with the colleges at the hearts of their respective communities, this is further reason for the Tees Valley to feel proud.
Top marks from Ofsted were also backed up by national achievement rate tables that placed the group in the top handful of general education colleges in the country.
“ It’ s been quite a year,” said Etc. group principal and chief executive officer Grant Glendinning.
“ This is a phenomenal accomplishment and testament to many years of work by so many people.”
Still relatively new to the group, with three years in post, he is quick to credit all those who have helped the Etc. get to this point – management, staff and governors( past and present), students, stakeholders, employer partners, the list goes on.
But there’ s no denying he is also proud to be the person in the top seat as that allimportant result comes over the line.
The Etc. is made up of Bede Sixth Form College, NETA Training, Redcar and Cleveland College, Stockton Riverside College, and newest to the group, Innersummit in Gateshead.
Ofsted rated the group as Outstanding for its overall effectiveness, quality of education, behaviours and attitudes, personal development, leadership and management, education programmes for young people, adult learning programmes and provision for learners with high needs. Apprenticeships were rated Good.
