PD Ports is ambitious – aiming to put Teesside at the heart of the nation’ s clean energy revolution and deliver economic growth for the wider region.
Teesport Offshore Gateway is the company’ s bold plan to create one of the UK’ s largest offshore wind manufacturing and installation hubs on the banks of the River Tees.
The proposed 180-acre development would deliver critical port infrastructure to support the government’ s offshore wind targets and accelerate the UK’ s journey to net zero.
With an estimated development cost of £ 200m, the site represents a bold commitment by PD Ports to the future of the River Tees and its role in the UK’ s clean energy transition.
The economic boost for the wider Teesside could see the creation of thousands of skilled jobs – both directly and in the supply chain- and bring global investment to the region in support of national ambitions.
WHY TEESPORT? As the Statutory Harbour Authority for the River Tees, PD Ports has long championed Teesside’ s potential as a clean energy powerhouse.
From offshore wind to carbon capture and hydrogen, the region is already home to a growing cluster of green industries.

Gateway marks PD Ports’ own strategic move to develop its estate in direct support of national efforts to boost port capacity.
The UK government has set a target of 60GW of offshore wind capacity by 2030- up from 14.8GW today.
Meeting that goal will require a rapid scaleup in manufacturing, installation and supply chain capacity.
PD Ports CEO Frans Calje said:“ Teesport is uniquely positioned to meet the challenge facing UK port capacity for the scale-up of offshore delivery.
“ What the sector needs is a site of sufficient scale, with deepwater access and the right infrastructure to support the next generation of offshore wind projects.
“ The Teesport Offshore Gateway site is ideally located for the offshore sector, with a riverside quay that can be extended and
