Ebola is a deadly virus and its symptoms can start with fever and headache, like flu. But it can get worse
and cause death too. This is why it's very important that infected people get treatment right away.
How Do People Catch Ebola?
It doesn’t spread through air or touch, or food or water like cold and flu. It spreads when a someone who
has Ebola spurts saliva while talking, or when another person touches the blood of a person infected with
Ebola. This is why doctors need to be extremely careful while treating Ebola patients.

Where Did Ebola Come From?
Scientists aren't sure how the first person caught Ebola in Africa. But they think that people may have
picked it up through infected animals. Apes, chimpanzees, gorillas, monkeys are considered carriers of
this virus.

The Ebola epidemic gets its name from the Ebola River in Africa. The disease was first reported in a village
on the river in 1976. The threat of Ebola seems to have risen again and one case has been reported in
Mumbai too.
