This is why doctors need to be extremely careful while treating Ebola patients. Where Did Ebola Come From? Scientists aren't sure how the first person caught Ebola in Africa. But they think that people may have picked it up through infected animals. Apes, chimpanzees, gorillas, monkeys are thought to be carriers of this virus. The Ebola disease gets its name from the Ebola River in Africa. The disease was first reported in a village on the river in 1976. The threat of Ebola seems to have risen again and one case has been reported in Mumbai too. How Can Ebola be prevented? Make sure that you wash your hands well and often.
