Magic of friendship
Naina was so sad. She did not want to leave the city, the school and her friends—especially her best friend Tania.
Her father’s transfer was finalized and they had to move to another town. He was busy packing. They had to catch
a train in the evening.
And suddenly, Naina started crying. When her mother heard her sobs, she rushed to her side. She was sad to see
her daughter so upset. She consoled Naina by saying, “Don’t worry sweetheart. The other city would be equally
good. We would have a similar house and the school would be even better than your current one.” Naina buried her
face in her lap and asked, “ But will I able to find a better friend than Tania? She is my best friend. We have done
everything together: playing, studying, and watchin g TV. She is my oldest buddy. “
Her mother promised her that she would meet equally
nice friends in the new town. It will take some time,
but afterwards it will back to fun and games. And
she can always stay in touch with Tania through
emails and Internet. Although Naina did not believe
her, she decided to give it a chance. After all, she did
not have any other option!
It had been a month. She had started going to the
new school. The teachers and her classmates were
nice but she had still not made friends. There was no
one with whom she could share her thoughts and
feelings. As she started thinking about Tania, the bell
rang. It was chhutti time.
Naina’s house was just 2 minutes away from the
school, so she used to walk down everyday. While crossing the road, she spotted a tiny puppy whimpering in the
middle, even as a black car from the opposite direction was closing in. Naina ran blindly to save the pup.
