What has the market been like this year ?
The market in 2021 / 22 has been the busiest we have seen and a very successful year of new build orders and large brokerage settlements . I would say it has been our best year on record since the inception of Ray White Marine . We have also picked up a great new brand in Sunreef Yachts , a luxury catamaran brand with a focus on eco-friendly yachts . I ’ ve been to Europe five times and America twice for several settlements and I ’ m just very thankful for not having to do anymore hotel quarantines !
What has been a deal highlight ?
There have been many highlights over the past year , one that sticks out is the sale of a certain Superyacht with a value of € 29,000,000 EU ($ 45m AUD ) which we managed to source , build and settle during harsh COVID-19 restrictions . The client was unable to view the product during the whole construction and we had to do everything via Zoom with Italy . Once the client was finally able to travel to view the finished product , his reaction was priceless , not realising how large the vessel was in real life and the launching ceremony was very special for him and his wife in Italy .
Another memorable deal was identifying , contracting and concluding a new build contract for another Superyacht with a value of € 16,000,000 ($ 25m AUD ) within a period of 24 hours . That was a new record and required a fair amount of quick thinking ! We are also delivering only 1 of 18 limited edition Riva Anniversario models in 2023 which is a very rare piece of on-water art .
What is the market looking like in 2023 ?
We have had a really great run of sales and the global market has really been the most buoyant I have seen it , over the past few months we have seen this slowing down . This had to happen as there were limited stock and supply chain delays with Covid-19 and world events . Some factories have delays in delivering new boats until 2025 / 2026 now , so the market will stabilise . I don ’ t think there will be a big downturn , but I do think you will see more flexibility from sellers and good buying opportunities becoming available .
